Hello Friends!
So I tried 7 days of sheet masking and here's what happened.
Several companies like Sokoglam and Memebox offer 7 days of sheet mask sets. They make it into a sort of challenge. Sheet mask for 7 days and watch your skin shine. This appealed to my competitive side - I love a good 'challenge' - and I decided to try it.
First things first, sheet masking everyday is awesome but can be a bit tiring since it takes up some time. So if you're looking to do this, make sure you block off time at the end (or beginning!) of your day to accomplish this challenge.
(Taking the mask out of the package. Don't forget to remove the backing! It's hard to see on this mask)
I choose the Memebox Bonvivant Mint + Tea Tree for Oily skin because well, I have acne prone oily skin :( Tea tree is perfect for oily/acne skin but it doesn't work for everyone. It can make some people break out but it really depends on your skin. Be careful not to ingest tea tree as it can be toxic (don't mean to scare anyone, just want to make you aware!)
So why Memebox? To be honest, because it came with a super cute cat headband and a bonus mask (so 8 masks!!). I really needed a headband to hold back my hair when washing my faceMoving on, I threw a couple of these in the fridge because it was the middle of July and it was hot. The mint + the cold felt AH-mazing on my skin. Just what I needed to cool off! Super refreshing.
Every night I would slap on the masks and wait the allotted 10-20 minutes. I always max out my sheet mask time to make sure I get the full benefits but be cautious - letting the masks dry on your face can actually be counter-productive and dry your skin out!
(Look at all that essence goodness ->)
So what happened?
Well, I had some old breakouts and new breakouts during the 7 day challenge. Was it from the mask? Probably not as cystic acne can sit under the skin for up to 8 weeks and the breakouts were in places that I normally break out. So it was most likely not a reaction to the masks. I did notice that the breakouts faded a bit faster and I had less breakouts the following week.
My thoughts on the mask:
It comes with a lot of essence in the pack, so I know it is saturated. Since it has so much essence, I was able to put it to use on my neck and chest (never let this excess go to waste!) It felt wonderful on my skin with the mint. The mask is made out of 100% botanical fiber which is supposed to be a step up from biocellulose and hydrogel masks. It did hold a lot of essence, but I found that the mask dried out quickly like a cotton mask but it did form better to my skin. Plus it didn't move around on my face like hydrogel masks tend to do sometimes.

Would I try this challenge again?
Yes! It was fun and it did help me get my acne under control....for awhile. I feel that this is a good idea, especially if you want to knock out a skin issue. What better way to do it than to give your skin an overhaul? Masks are LOADED with essences. The sheets are designed to seal in these essences and repeatedly give them to your skin for the alotted time. It's basically like putting you skincare routine in super drive.Don't be discouraged by any lack of results - or my temporary results. I am still on my skincare journey and am trying to learn what works best for my skin.
I think I'll try the Sokoglam sheet mask challenge next!
Have you tried a 7 day sheet mask challenge? Let me know in the comments below :)
